Prime Minister Narendra Modi met President Draupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi on Sunday. On Saturday, PM Modi visited Varanasi, where he released the 20th installment of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi and transferred an amount of more than Rs 20,500 crore to the bank accounts of 9.7 crore farmers.
With the release of this amount, the total disbursement under the scheme has exceeded Rs 3.90 lakh crore. Under this scheme, a financial benefit of Rs 6,000 per year is transferred to three equal installments in the base-linked bank accounts of farmers through direct benefit transfer (DBT).
He also laid the foundation stone of several development projects costing about Rs 2,200 crore in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
On the 51st tour of his Lok Sabha constituency Varanasi, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the railway overbridge in Hardatpur to reduce the congestion on the Mohan Sarai-Alapura road along with the widening and strengthening of the Varanasi-Bhadohi Marg and Chitouni-Shul Tankeshwar Marg. Widening and strengthening and level crossing 22C and Khalispur yard laid the foundation stone of railway overbridge.
Strengthening the infrastructure of electricity in the region, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone to undergrade various works under the Smart Distribution Project and the power infrastructure costing more than Rs 880 crore.
To promote tourism, the Prime Minister inaugurated the redevelopment of eight raw ghats located on the river bank, development works in Kalika Dham, beautification of ponds and ghats in Rangiladas Kutia in Shivpur and renovation of Durgakund and renovation and water treatment works. He founded the renovation work of Kardameshwar Mahadev Temple, development of many freedom fighters, Sarnath, Rishi Mandvi and urban facilities in Ramnagar zone, redevelopment of the ancestral home of Munshi Premchand in Lamhi and upgrading of the museum etc. He also laid the foundation stone for the development of urban Miawaki forest in Kanchanpur and redevelopment and beautification of 21 other parks.
