Let us tell you that the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, who was born on 14 November 1889 in Allahabad (now Prayagraj), Uttar Pradesh, was very fond of children. Children also liked him very much and fondly called him ‘Chacha Nehru’. This is the reason why 14th November is celebrated as Children’s Day. In our country, before 1964, Children’s Day was celebrated on 20th November, but after the death of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, it was decided to celebrate Children’s Day on his birthday i.e. 14th November.
