New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised the film ‘The Sabarmati Report’ made on the 2002 Godhra incident. PM Modi wrote in a post on social media – It is a good thing that this truth is coming out, and that too in such a way that common people can see it. A fake story can last only for a limited time. After all, the truth always comes out! PM Modi said this while praising the film starring Vikrant Massey, Raashi Khanna and Riddhi Dogra among other actors.
Prime Minister Modi made this comment while reacting to an ex-user’s film. The user told the film in his review that he must watch this film. The user said that the makers have done a commendable job in exposing the truth behind the 2002 Godhra massacre. 59 people including women and children lost their lives in the Godhra incident.
Film based on Godhra incident
‘The Sabarmati Report’ is directed by Dheeraj Sarna. This film is based on the Godhra incident. Riots broke out in many parts of Gujarat after the burning of Sabarmati Express in Godhra. Vikrant Massey is playing the lead role in this film. This film was released on 15 November. An X user, in his brief review, said that the makers have handled the issue with great sensitivity and dignity. The user also claimed that the incident was politicized by a “vested interest group” and used as an opportunity to “tarnish the image of a leader”.
What was Godhra incident?
Let us tell you that on the morning of February 27, 2002, Sabarmati Express reached Godhra Railway Station in Gujarat at its scheduled time at around 12:00. This train running between Muzaffarpur in Bihar to Ahmedabad had hundreds of passengers, including a large number of kar sevaks. These kar sevaks were returning from kar seva in Ayodhya. As soon as the train left Godhra, the train was stopped near the outer signal of the station by pulling the chain. After this, a crowd of about 2 thousand people started pelting stones at the train and set fire to four coaches. S-6 coach was badly burnt in the fire and 59 people died. The dead included 27 women and 10 children. 48 passengers were injured in this attack. After the Godhra incident, communal riots broke out in Gujarat. Despite claims by the state government to control the violence within three days, violent clashes continued for several weeks.
