PM Modi will inaugurate New Pamban Rail Bridge
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Tamil Nadu today on the occasion of Ram Navami. During this time he will inaugurate several major infrastructure projects. These include the much awaited New Pamban Rail Bridge, which is India’s first vertical lift sea bridge. PM Modi will inaugurate the New Pamban Rail Bridge at around 12 noon on Sunday afternoon. This bridge connects the mainland to Rameswaram Island. It is a modern symbol of connectivity and innovation in coastal infrastructure.
About 2 kilometers long
The 2.08 km long bridge, built at a cost of more than Rs 700 crore, is equipped with 99 spans. It has a state -of -the -art 72.5 meter vertical lift section. This lift mechanism allows it to rise up to 17 meters, which helps the vessels to pass. Also, uninterrupted movement of the train is ensured.
Special design design
About 2 km long bridge in the sea is designed with stainless steel reinforcement, anti-corrosion polysiloxen coating and fully welded joints. This bridge is durable for a long time. It also has to be taken care of at least.
Road projects will lay the foundation stone
After the inauguration of this bridge, at around 12:45 pm, PM will go to worship at the holy Ramanathaswamy temple in Rameswaram. They are scheduled to lay the foundation stone of rail and road projects worth more than Rs 8,300 crore by 1:30 pm and dedicate them to the nation.
Expansion of national highway
These developments include major highways (National Highway) expansion. Their purpose is to improve connectivity in Tamil Nadu. NH-40 which is to make 28 km Valjpet-Ranipet segment of four lanes. NH-332, which is a four-lane making of 29 km Wilupapuram-Puducherry section. NH-32 which is to dedicate 57 km Pundiancuppam-Sutanatnathpuram section. NH-36 which is to dedicate 48 km to Cholapuram-Tanjavur section.
Rameswaram-Tambaram will inaugurate rail service
These highway projects will reduce the travel time between cities. Local industries are expected to benefit healthcare and education, especially agriculture, leather and small scale industries. Apart from this, PM Modi will inaugurate Rameswaram-Tambaram (Chennai) rail service. This will increase the contact between the southern pilgrimage city and the capital of Tamil Nadu.
Cultural significance of Rameswaram and PM Modi
During the visit to Tamil Nadu, PM Modi is not only underlining the cultural significance of Rameswaram. According to the Ramayana, it is believed that Rama Setu was built here. PM Modi has also displayed an approach to the modern infrastructure with his visit, which connects the tradition with technology.
