New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch ‘Bima Sakhi Yojana’ from Panipat, Haryana today. This ambitious scheme aims to economically empower 1 lakh women in the age group of 18-70 years across the country. Under this scheme, women will not only get the opportunity of financial independence, but their financial literacy will also increase.
What is Bima Sakhi Scheme?
Under ‘Bima Sakhi Yojana’, 10th pass women will be trained as LIC agents. They will also be given a monthly stipend for the first three years.
First year: ₹7,000 per month Second year: ₹6,000 per month Third year: ₹5,000 per month
Under the scheme, graduate women will also get an opportunity to become development officers in LIC.
Initial funding of Rs 100 crore
The government has made a provision of initial funding of ₹100 crore for the ‘Bima Sakhi Scheme’. The objective of this scheme is to provide financial empowerment especially to rural women and make them self-reliant in areas with limited employment options.

3 years special training
Women will be given special training for three years under this scheme. This training will make them proficient in the field of financial management and insurance agency.

Prime Minister will give appointment certificate
During the program, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also distribute appointment certificates to the future ‘Bima Sakhis’. This scheme is a big step towards bringing positive changes in the lives of women and making them self-reliant. ‘Bima Sakhi Yojana’ will provide better employment opportunities to rural women and they will be able to make their families financially strong. The scheme will also promote financial awareness, which is extremely important for the development of the country.
