Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take part in the BRICS conference to be held in Brazil next week, which will be held on 6-7 July 2025 at Rio de Janeiro. However, the absence of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping has become a topic of discussion on this important international platform.
Putin is avoiding a visit to Brazil, as the International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant is pending against him, due to which there is a risk of his arrest in Brazil. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will participate from Russia. Xi Jinping will also stay away from this conference for the first time, although the official reason has not been given, but according to sources, this decision has been taken for internal reasons. China will represent China.
BRICS – Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa – are now an expanded organization with five new countries in recent years. PM Modi will also hold several bilateral meetings during the conference. The first stop of his visit will be Ghana from July 2, which will be the first bilateral visit of a Prime Minister of India in the last three decades.
He will then be in Trinidad and Tobago on 3-4 July, Argentina on 4-5 July, and Brazil on 5-8 July. The final stop will be Namibia on 9 July. The purpose of this journey is to strengthen India’s relations with the countries of the Global South.
