New Delhi. Paraguay President Santiago Penna Palasios is visiting India. In New Delhi today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Paraguay President Santiago Penna Palasios and bilateral meeting. During this time, the President of Paraguay condemned the Pahalgam terror attack and expressed condolences to the families of the victims. He also spoke of solidarity with India against terrorism and violent extremism. PM Modi appreciated the President of Paraguay for this.

The two leaders had detailed talks on several matters including trade and investment, health sector, pharmaceutical sector, defense sector, infrastructure and mining. In the two countries, there was an agreement between Modi and Palasios even after deepening bilateral relations. Now in the evening, the President of India will meet President Draupadi Murmu at the President of Paraguay, where the banquet has been held in his honor.

P. Kumaran, Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs has given detailed information about the meeting of PM Narendra Modi and Paraguay President Santiago Penna Palasios. He said that on the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Paraguay President Santiago Penna Palasios has come on a state visit to India from 2 to 4 June. This is his first visit to India. He is the second President of Paraguay to visit India. Earlier in 2012, the 10th President of Paraguay visited India.

Diplomatic relations were established between India and Paraguay in September 1961. Since then, there is a sweet and friendly relationship between the two countries. Bilateral relations have extended continuously with increasing cooperation in areas such as trade, agriculture, health, pharmaceuticals and information technology. Paraguay is an emerging trading partner of India in the Latin American region.
