New Delhi. Today, on the occasion of Army Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated three warships INS Surat, INS Nilgiri and INS Waghshir to the country and the Indian Navy. All three warships are Made in India and are equipped with many technical facilities. PM Modi said, today is a big day for India’s maritime heritage, the glorious history of the Navy and the Self-reliant India mission. We are taking a huge step towards strengthening the 21st century Navy on the sacred land of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. This is the first time that a destroyer, a frigate and a submarine are being commissioned together.

Modi said, January 15 is also celebrated as Army Day. I salute every brave soldier who has dedicated his life to protect our country. I extend my heartiest greetings to all those courageous heroes who are standing firm in defense of Mother India.

PM said, India’s presence and capability in the Indian Ocean region is a strong foundation. That is why today’s program is equally important from both military and economic points of view. In the 21st century, becoming the Indian Army with more advanced and modern capabilities is one of the country’s top priorities. Be it water, land, sky, deep sea, or boundless space, India is securing its interests everywhere.

The Prime Minister said, we are moving forward with the concept of theater command to make our armed forces more efficient. The way the three armies of India have adopted the mantra of self-reliance in the last ten years is indeed commendable. Today’s event connects our glorious heritage with our future aspirations. We have a rich history in long sea voyages, commerce, naval defence, shipping industry. Taking inspiration from its prosperity, today’s India is also emerging as a major maritime power in the world.
