PM Narendra Modi Inaugurates Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav: The time to come in India will be for our North-East, PM Modi expressed confidence while inaugurating Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav

New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi. The first Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav is being celebrated from December 6 to 8, 2024. Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav aims to provide a dynamic platform to showcase North East India’s vibrant textile sector, tourism opportunities, traditional craftsmanship and distinctive Geographical Indication (GI) tagged products. Prime Minister Modi said, Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav is a celebration of the better future of the North East, it is a celebration of the new sunrise of development, which is going to accelerate the mission of ‘Developed India’.

The Prime Minister said, I believe that the coming time in India also belongs to Eastern India, our North-East. In the past decades, we have seen the emergence of big cities like Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. In the coming decades, we are going to see the potential of cities like Guwahati, Agartala, Imphal, Itanagar, Gangtok, Kohima, Shillong and Aizawl. In our tradition, Mother Lakshmi is called the goddess of happiness, health and prosperity. We worship her eight forms in Lakshmi Puja – Aadi Lakshmi, Dhan Lakshmi, Dhanya Lakshmi, Gaja Lakshmi, Santan Lakshmi, Veer Lakshmi, Vijay Lakshmi and Vidya Lakshmi. Similarly, Ashtalakshmi of eight states resides in the North-East of India.

Modi said, today the biggest priority of the Government of India is the youth of Ashtalakshmi state. The youth of North East always wants development. In ten years, there is an unprecedented public support for lasting peace in the North East states. For a long time we have seen how development has also been weighed by the number of votes. North East had less seats, hence the previous governments did not pay attention to its development. It was Atal ji’s government which created a separate ministry for North East for the first time.

Narendra Modi said, if we look at the period of last 100-200 years, we have seen the rise of the western world. The Western region has left a mark on the world at economic, social and political levels. Incidentally, in India too we have seen that the western region of our country has played a big role in India’s growth.
