New Delhi. PM Narendra Modi has taken cognizance of the incident of the breakdown of the bridge over the Mahisagar river in Vadodara district of Gujarat. The Prime Minister, who visited abroad, spoke to Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel over the phone and inquired about the rescue and relief operations being run by the state government. PM Modi has expressed grief over the loss of life due to this accident. A grace of Rs 2 lakh will be given to the families of each deceased from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund and Rs 50 thousand to the injured. So far 9 people have died in this incident, rescue work is still going on.

Let us tell you that the Gambhra bridge connecting Vadodara and Anand built on the Mahisagar river suddenly got filled this morning. At the time when the bridge was broken, many vehicles were passing through it, due to which 4 to 5 vehicles including the truck loader fell directly into the river and a tanker fell which fell from the bridge. CM Bhupendra Patel ordered an inquiry into the incident. The team of technical experts is also reaching the spot and inspecting.
