Mumbai Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray have once again come together. After coming up with Uddhav and Raj Thackeray, politics in Maharashtra can get new color. The reason for this is that this year, elections of local bodies are going to be held in Maharashtra including Brihannmumba Metropolitan Municipality i.e. BMC. However, Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray have so far failed to hoist the flag on their own in the politics of Maharashtra.
Talking about Uddhav Thackeray, he formed the Shiv Sena (UBT) on the separation of the Eknath Shinde faction and contested the Lok Sabha and Maharashtra Legislative Assembly with Congress and NCP. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Uddhav Thackeray’s party Shiv Sena (UBT) won 9 seats. At the same time, Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena won 7 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra. Uddhav Thackeray came into enthusiasm due to more seats of his party than Shinde, but a few months later the election results of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly defeated his enthusiasm. Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT) could get 20 seats in the last election of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. Whereas, Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena’s account went to 57 seats.
Now talk about Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). Raj Thackeray decided not to contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and supported the BJP. MNS was founded in 2006 by Raj Thackeray. Raj Thackeray’s MNS won 7 seats in the BMC election in 2007. Then in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, Raj Thackeray fielded candidates for 11 seats in Maharashtra. Out of these, MNS got votes from 1.25 lakh to 1.50 lakh votes on 10 seats and Shiv Sena lost on those seats. In 2009, Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections were held, while 13 MNS MLAs also won. Then 28 MNS councilors also won the 2012 BMC election. The Mayor of MNS was made in Nashik, but in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the bail of all 10 candidates of Raj Thackeray was forfeited. Then in 2019, MNS did not contest the Lok Sabha elections. If we talk about Maharashtra assembly elections, Raj Thackeray fielded 219 candidates of his party in 2014 and 101 candidates in 2019, but both times MNS could win only 1-1 candidates.
