New Delhi. The exercise to form a government has started in Manipur. 10 NDA MLAs reached Raj Bhavan today and met Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla and claimed to form the government. The legislators told the governor that they had the support of 44 MLAs. The MLAs receiving the governor include 8 BJP’s, 1 and 1 independent MLAs of NPP. The governor has also been given a letter of sign of 22 MLAs in which he is in favor of forming the government. Recently, the MLAs wrote a letter to Home Minister Amit Shah requesting to form a ‘popular government’.

BJP MLA Thokchom Radheshyam Singh said after meeting the Governor that 44 MLAs are ready to form the government in Manipur. Independent MLA Nishikant Singh said that most people want the popular government to be formed and that is why we have come to meet the Governor. We also discussed other things, such as the functioning of President’s rule after the formation of a popular government, cannot remain the same as before. Mainly and basically the main issue was the formation of a popular government. The Governor also reacted positively to this. He said that we hope that the popular government will be formed soon. We are appealing to the Governor that we want a popular government. We have also given a paper to the Governor which we all have signed. The paper that we have given are signed by about 22 people.
Let us tell you that Chief Minister N Biren Singh resigned on 9 February this year due to conflict and violence between Maetai and Cookie communities in Manipur. President’s rule was imposed in Manipur on 13 February after the Chief Minister’s resignation. Earlier, on 31 December 2024, at his government residence in Imphal, Biren Singh also publicly apologized to the people of the state during the press conference.
