Union Minister Muralidhar Mohol said on Saturday that the Ahmedabad aircraft accident cannot be concluded based on the initial report of the Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) as the negotiations between the pilots were very brief.
The Minister of State for Civil Aviation was interacting with journalists here about the investigation of the aircraft accident on 12 June.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft left for London, shortly after flying from Ahmedabad Airport, collided with a medical college hostel and became accidental. All of the 242 people aboard the plane, except a passenger, died and 19 other people also died in the accident. It was the deadliest aircraft accident of a decade.
AAIB has released its preliminary report on the Air India aircraft accident.
The report found that the fuel supply to both engines closed at an interval of one second, causing chaos in the cockpit and fell to the ground almost immediately after flying the aircraft.
The fifteen -page report told that in ‘Cockpit Voice Recording’ it was heard that a pilot asked the other why he stopped the fuel, then the answer was that he did not do so.
Mohol said, “This is a preliminary report. We cannot conclude on the basis of this. Earlier, in the case of such accidents, the black box had to be sent abroad. Now, we can complete this investigation ourselves soon. AAIB is an independent institution. There is no interference of the ministry.” He said, “No conclusion can be drawn on the basis of pilots’ conversations because it is very brief. The investigation of the case is necessary. We should wait for that report.”
