President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday congratulated the people of Sikkim on their state day. President Murmu said that the state has presented excellent examples of sustainable development by harmonizing nature.
He said in a post on X, “I wish all the residents of Sikkim for the future full of prosperity and prosperity.”
Significantly, on 16 May 1975, Sikkim became the 22nd state of India. In the 18th century, the Namgyal dynasty formed the kingdom of Sikkim. This Chogyal was ruled by the monarchy, which was made up of Buddhist priests and Rajas.
The President wrote, “Heartiest greetings to the people of Sikkim on State Day. Sikkim is widely acclaimed to its immense natural beauty, rich cultural heritage and warmth of its people. As one of India’s most environmental conscious states, Sikkim has set up remarkable examples of sustainable development by demonstrating harmony with nature.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday congratulated the people of Sikkim on his State Day and appreciated the progress made in various fields.
He said on X, “Heartfelt congratulations to the people of Sikkim on their state day! This year, this opportunity is even more because we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of Sikkim to become a kingdom!”
He added, “Sikkim is associated with calm beauty, rich cultural traditions and hardworking people. It has progressed in various fields. People of this beautiful state continue to be prosperous.”
After the independence of the country in 1947, Sikkim, who has achieved the status of a protected state under the Indian Union, became an Indian state after a referendum in 1975 and since then the North Eastern region has made rapid progress on various socio-economic development parameters.
