President Draupadi Murmu honored the National Florence Nightingale Award 2025 to extraordinary nursing professionals during a function held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Friday. This year, 15 nurses from various fields and healthcare settings were honored for their exemplary service for their unwavering commitment to strengthen public health distribution and promote healthcare.
In this ceremony, Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J.P. Nadda and Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Prataprao Jadhav and Anupriya Patel were present.
Congratulating the award winners, JP Nadda said, “This honor reflects your dedication to the service of humanity and will inspire you to have a positive impact.” He further stated that, “Our nurses are pillars of India’s healthcare system, which save the lives of countless people every day.”
The National Florence Nightingale Award established by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, honors the dedication, compassion and flexibility that defines the nursing profession.
These prestigious awards are provided to registered nurses, rights, assistant nurses rights and women health visitors who are serving in central and state governments, union territories and voluntary organizations. Each award consists of qualification certificate, a cash prize of Rs 1,00,000 and a medal symbolizing the nation for invaluable service provided by these health warriors. The Kendra government has taken transformational steps to strengthen nursing and midwifery profession across the country. According to officials, the passage of the recent National Nursing and Midwifery Commission Act will prove to be an important milestone in the modernization of nursing education and regulatory structure.
Additionally, the establishment of medical colleges as well as 157 nursing colleges will promote the construction of efficient and competent nursing workforce. These initiatives collectively pave the way for a strong healthcare system, which ensure better health results for all citizens through a well -equipped and strong nursing workforce.
