A group of priests on Tuesday protested outside the ancient Hanuman temple at Connaught Place and demanded that former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal should explain why no financial assistance was given under government schemes in the last 10 years.
Earlier on Monday, Kejriwal had said that priests of all Hindu temples and granthis of gurudwaras will be given a monthly honorarium of Rs 18,000 under the Pujari Granthi Samman Yojana. He had said that registration would start from Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Vijay Goel targeted Kejriwal over the announcement of Pujari Granthi Samman Yojana and told PTI-Video that all these announcements are just election promises. He asked, “Why is Arvind Kejriwal not contesting elections on the poor condition of drinking water, pollution, corruption, water, electricity problems and bad road conditions in Delhi?”
