Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of several development projects costing more than Rs 48,520 crore in Karakat in Bihar.
The Prime Minister, who arrived in Patna on Thursday on a two-day visit to the state, inaugurated the four-lane road construction work of the Patna-Dobhi section of National Highway (NH) 22, which will cost around Rs 5,520 crore. He also inaugurated the construction and grade improvement work of ‘elevated highway’ in Gopalganj city on NH 27. The Prime Minister also dedicated the third railway line costing more than Rs 1,330 crore between Son Nagar-Mohammed Ganj to the nation.
Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy Chief Minister Emperor Chaudhary, Union Minister and many other dignitaries and officers were present on the occasion.
Karakat is a block in Rohtas district.
The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone of the second phase (3 x 800 MW) of Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project costing more than Rs 29,930 crore in Aurangabad district. The objective of this project is to ensure energy security for Bihar and Eastern India.
In addition, the Prime Minister laid the foundation of a new Ganga Bridge to make the National Highway (NH)-Sasaram section of the National Highway (NH) -19A, a four-lane, Varanasi-Ranchi-Kolkata Highway (NH-319B) and Ramnagar-Kachhi Dargah section (NH-119D) six-lane and a new Ganga Bridge to strengthen the road infrastructure and contact facility in the area, Varanasi-Ranchi-Kolkata Highway (NH-319B) and Ramnagar-Kachhi Dargah section (NH-119D) and a new Ganga Bridge between Buxar and Bharauli.
