Prime Minister Narendra Modi appreciated the report of the International Labor Organization (ILO) in the 123rd episode of Mann Ki Baat, stating that 64 percent of India’s population is getting social security.
Around 94 crore citizens are now covered under at least one social security benefit, and after verification of additional schemes, the number is expected to exceed 100 crores.
Prime Minister Modi highlighted that 64 percent of the population in India is benefiting from social security schemes. The Prime Minister said that by the year 2025 this number is less than 25 crores.
Prime Minister Modi said, “The International Labor Organization (ILO) has released a major report, stating that 64 percent of India’s population is definitely getting social security … around 95 crore people are benefiting from social security schemes. By 2015 the number was less than 25 crore.”
This indicates a significant increase in 2015. The International Labor Organization (ILO) has recognized India’s efforts, and has published its achievement on the Ilostat dashboard.
Social security coverage in India has increased by 45 percent in the last decade, causing it to come second in the second place in providing social security.
Schemes like Ayushman Bharat, Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Annan Yojana (PM-GAY), E-Mram Portal and Atal Pension Yojana (APY) have played an important role in expanding social security coverage.
Increased social security coverage is expected to strengthen India’s global participation, especially in finalizing social security agreements with developed countries.
Social security agreements with developed countries, will ensure the portability of benefits for Indian professionals working abroad.
Prime Minister Modi also mentioned the report of the World Health Organization, in which India has been declared free from trachoma disease and said that the credit for this achievement goes to India’s health workers and “Jal Jeevan Mission”.
Prime Minister Modi said, “The WHO has declared India a trachoma -free country … It is the success of our health workers … ‘Jal Jeevan’ mission has contributed to it.”
The Prime Minister also highlighted the recently held International Yoga Day celebrations, in which millions of people from all classes participated. PM Modi said, “All of you will be full of energy and International Yoga Day memories. This year too millions of people participated in International Yoga Day on 21 June.”
He talked about the scenes of mesmerizing around the country including Visakhapatnam, from where the Prime Minister led the biggest yoga gathering of three lakh people so far. “We saw many attractive pictures of the festival. 3 lakh people did yoga together on the beach. Another incomplete view of Visakhapatnam was another incredible view that more than 2,00 tribal students made 108 Sun.
