The President also told the Parliament that the construction work of Sampur power plant in East Port district Tinkomali will start at the time of Modi’s visit.
Health Minister Nalinda Jayathissa said that Sri Lanka and India had signed an agreement last month to set up a solar power plant in Tinkomali.
He said, “It has been agreed between the Government of Sri Lanka and the Government of India to set up a solar power plant of 50 MW (Phase 1) and 70 MW (Step 2) in Sampur, Tinkomali. The construction and operation of the solar power plant will be done as a joint entrance between the two governments.
