Prime Minister Modi visited the Air India aircraft accident site in Ahmedabad on Friday and reviewed the ground situation. The incident occurred a day after the AL-171 aircraft crashed at London Gatwick soon after flying from Ahmedabad International Airport.
While sharing an X post, the Prime Minister wrote, “I visited the accident site in Ahmedabad today. The scene of devastation is tragic. Meteorological department officials and teams are working tireless after the incident. Our sensations are with those who have lost their loved ones in this unimaginable tragedy.”
The Prime Minister reached the city this morning and reached the place where the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft carrying 242 passengers and crew crashed. The officials informed them about the situation.
During this, Prime Minister Modi was accompanied by Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, State Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi and other officials. After this, Prime Minister Modi reached Ahmedabad Civil Hospital to meet those injured in the accident.
Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah met Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and took detailed information about the entire incident. Shah said that there was no possibility of anyone surviving in the Air India aircraft accident going to London, as the aircraft had a high temperature due to the burning of about 125,000 liters of fuel.
Expressing condolences to the families of those killed, Shah said that the correct number of the dead will be officially stated only after DNA testing. Shah said that about 1000 DNA testing has been done so far.
The Union Home Minister told media persons, “The aircraft had about 125,000 liters of fuel and there was no possibility to save anyone due to high temperatures … I visited the accident site.”
He said, “We got information within just 10 minutes of the incident. After this I informed the Prime Minister, the Home Minister of Gujarat, the Control Room of the Home Department, the Civil Aviation Department and the Minister of Civil Aviation. The Prime Minister immediately called and the employees of the Central and State Government got involved in relief and rescue work.”
