Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao on his 104th birth anniversary on Saturday. Prime Minister Modi wrote, “I am remembering Mr. PV Narasimha Rao Garu on his birth anniversary. India is grateful to him for his effective leadership during the important phase of our development path.” Prime Minister Modi appreciated Rao’s intelligence and wide nature.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh also paid tribute to former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao on his birth anniversary. The Defense Minister wrote in an X post, “I am remembering former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao on his birth anniversary. He was a great politician and outstanding scholar.” Union Minister Rajnath Singh said that PV Narasimha Rao’s tenure was ‘far -ical economic progress’ in the tenure of PV Narasimha Rao.
Born on 28 June 1921 in Karimnagar, Telangana, Narasimha Rao was a farmer and lawyer, he joined politics and handled several important ministries. He was the Minister of Law and Information in 1962–64, Minister of Law and Settlement in 1964-67, Health and Medical Minister in 1967 and Education Minister in 1968-71.
Rao held the post of Home Minister on 19 July 1984 and on 5 November 1984, he was again appointed to the post with additional charge of the Ministry of Planning. He was appointed as the Defense Minister from 31 December 1984 to 25 September 1985. On 25 September 1985, he took over as Human Resource Development Minister. He was the Prime Minister of India from 21 June 1991 to 16 May 1996.
