New Delhi: The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has rejected the comments of the interim government of Bangladesh over the violence in Murshidabad, West Bengal over the Waqf Amendment Act. The Ministry of External Affairs has advised Bangladesh to first protect the rights of minorities.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said that the comments made by Bangladesh regarding the events of West Bengal are unacceptable. This is an attempt to compare India’s concerns on the oppression of minorities in Bangladesh. In Bangladesh, criminals committing such crimes with minorities keep roaming openly.
He said that instead of making such improper comments, Bangladesh should focus on protecting the rights of its minorities.
In fact, on Thursday, the press secretary of Mohammad Yunus, the Chief Advisor of the Interim Government of Bangladesh, had called upon the Indian officials to protect the minority Muslim communities affected by the Murshidabad violence.
