Ludhiana. Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Ludhiana West seat of Punjab, Gurpreet Bassi Gogi died under suspicious circumstances. Gurpreet Gogi died after being shot in the head late on Friday night. Gurpreet Bassi Gogi had defeated Bharat Bhushan of Congress by 40 thousand votes from Ludhiana West seat in the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections. Gurpreet was called Gogi by his supporters. It is being told that Aam Aadmi Party MLA Gurpreet Gogi had gone to some program. He reached his home and then went to the room. He ordered food and was eating it in the room itself. At that very moment the sound of gunshot came.
According to the information, on the sound of gunshot, Dr. Sukhchain Kaur, wife of Gurpreet Bassi Gogi, ran there. He saw that Gogi had been shot. Then Gurpreet Gogi was brought to DMC Hospital in Ludhiana by vehicle. Doctors at DMC Hospital tried hard to save Gurpreet Gogi, but they failed. As soon as the information about Aam Aadmi Party MLA Gurpreet Gogi being shot, the Police Commissioner and other policemen reached DMC Hospital. With the demise of Gurpreet Gogi, the secret has still not been revealed as to how the Aam Aadmi Party MLA was shot? However, his family members are saying that it was accidental firing. At present the police is busy investigating the matter.
Gurpreet Bassi Gogi was earlier in Congress. After spending 23 years in Congress, he joined Aam Aadmi Party in the last Punjab Assembly elections. Gurpreet Gogi had been a councilor from Congress thrice. He also held the post of District Chief of Congress. Gurpreet Bassi Gogi was also the Chairman of Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation during the Congress government in Punjab. Gurpreet Bassi Gogi’s wife had contested the election for Ludhiana Municipal Corporation councilor, but was defeated by the Congress candidate.
