A court in Mohali, Punjab, on Tuesday sentenced Swayambhu Pastor Bajinder Singh to life imprisonment in a 2018 rape case. The decision was given by the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADSJ) Vikrant Kumar.
Bajinder was convicted on March 28 under Sections 376 (rape), 323 (sentenced to voluntarily hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
The case was registered in 2018 on the basis of a complaint lodged by a woman at Zirakpur police station. Tight security arrangements were made in the court premises before the verdict was pronounced on Tuesday.
