Schools in five border districts of Punjab remained closed on Tuesday, while as a precaution, blackouts were implemented in Amritsar and Dasuha and Mukerian areas of Hoshiarpur last night.
College and universities in Pathankot and Amritsar also remained closed. However, officials in Amritsar said that universities and colleges can take online classes. He said that schools remained closed in Amritsar, Pathankot, Fazilka, Ferozepur and Tarn Taran. However, schools were reopened on Tuesday in the sixth border districts of Punjab, Gurdaspur as well as Sangrur and Barnala on Tuesday.
Amritsar district administration said on Tuesday morning that people can resume their normal activities.
Blackout was implemented in Dasuya and Mukerian areas of Amritsar and Hoshiarpur as a precaution. The power supply in Amritsar was restored at 11:42 pm on Monday night.
After the closure of the airport in Amritsar district of Punjab and the blackout rules came into force, a flight from Indigo returned to Delhi on Monday evening.
Drone activity was observed in Jalandhar area on Monday evening, after which power supply was stopped in some areas. Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Aggarwal said on Monday evening that the armed forces neutralized a suspected “monitoring drone” near Mand village in Jalandhar.
In a message at 10:45 pm, the officer advised the people that if they see the debris of any flying item, they should inform the police and do not go very close to it.
Punjab has a 553 km long border with Pakistan.
