Dehradun. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has reacted to the action taken by the Modi government on Pakistan after the Pahalgam attack. The CM said that the Modi government has made it clear that blood and water can no longer flow together by responding to Pakistan by stopping the Indus Water Treaty. Dhami said, this decisive decision will also shatter the plans of Pakistan, which shelters and promoted terrorism. Similarly, Pakistan has sent a strong message from other decisions including closing the attic border check post. Chief Minister Dhami said that action has now been started on the historic and strict decisions taken against terrorism in the CCS meeting held on Wednesday under the efficient and decisive leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Pushkar Singh Dhami said that these bold steps taken under the leadership of Modi not only confirmed India’s ‘Zero tolerance’ policy against terrorism, but it has also sent a clear message to the enemies that India is ready to give a befitting reply to every terrorist attack. The Chief Minister had earlier paid tribute to the innocent people killed in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam before a meeting held at his government residence in Dehradun on Wednesday. CM Dhami said that the efforts of terrorists to disturb Jammu and Kashmir will never succeed. This misdeeds will be given a befitting reply and the culprits will not be spared.
What is Indus River Water Treaty?
The Indus River Water Treaty, which took place between India and Pakistan in 1960, was signed by the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and Pakistan President Ayub Khan. Under this treaty, the Indus and its tributaries were divided into eastern and western parts. Considering Indus, Chenab and Jhelum as western rivers, their water was released to use Pakistan. India can use only 20 percent of these rivers. At the same time, India got the right to use its water, considering Ravi, Sutlej and Beas river as the eastern part. The Indus River is called the lifeline of Pakistan and now India has banned this treaty.
