In the case of the murder of 25 -year -old tennis player Radhika Yadav in Gurugram, her father Deepak Yadav was sent to 14 days judicial custody by a Gurugram court on 12 July 2025. Deepak shot his daughter from behind in his two -storey house of Sushant Lok, Sector 57 at 10:30 am in the kitchen at 10:30 am, in which four bullets were fired to Radhika. Police said that Deepak used his license. 32 bore revolver. Radhika died on the spot.
Police arrested Deepak soon after the incident. During interrogation, Deepak confessed to making the murder plan in advance. He told his brother Vijay Yadav, “I have slaughtered the girl, write such an FIR to me that I get hanged.” Vijay said that Deepak regrets his actions, but did not give the reason for the murder. The police gave a clean chit to Radhika’s mother Manju Yadav, as she was not aware of the murder plan or incident.
Police investigation revealed that Deepak had to hear the taunts of the villagers that he was living on Radhika’s earnings. Radhika was a tennis coach and used to train the players at various places. Deepak asked Radhika to stop coaching, but refused, which increased stress. Radhika’s friend Himanshika Singh Rajput said that Radhika was troubled by strict control and criticism in the house. He used to get taunts to wear short clothes and talk to boys. Radhika had expressed her desire to leave her home on WhatsApp and go abroad from her coach Ajay Yadav.
The police also investigated a music video, in which Radhika worked, but it could not find any connection with the murder. Some people claimed ‘Love Jihad’, but Himanshika described it as baseless.
