New Delhi. Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has come under attack by accusing freedom fighter Veer Savarkar during his speech in the Lok Sabha. BJP has presented a letter written by Indira Gandhi in 1980 in which she had called Savarkar the prodigal son of India. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju shared Indira Gandhi’s letter on his social media post. Earlier, BJP MP in Lok Sabha Nishikant Dubey had also hit back at Rahul Gandhi and responded to his allegations against Savarkar.

Nishikant Thakur said that Rahul Gandhi can never become Veer Savarkar. He said that Indira Gandhi had issued a postage stamp in the name of Veer Savarkar in the year 1970. In 1979, Indira Gandhi donated Rs 11,000 from her personal account to the Savarkar Trust. In 1980, Indira Gandhi wrote a letter saying that a rare example like Savarkar is born sometimes. In 1983, Indira Gandhi got a documentary made on Veer Savarkar through the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Rahul Gandhi should stop lying about Savarkar and apologize to his grandmother Indira Gandhi.

Let us tell you that Rahul Gandhi had said in the House today that Indira Gandhi ji told me that Savarkar had made a compromise with the British. Savarkar had written a letter to the British and apologized. Taking aim at BJP and RSS, Rahul Gandhi said, your leader Savarkar, whom you worship, had said that the worst thing about the Constitution of India is that there is nothing Indian in it. Rahul had alleged that Savarkar believed in Manusmriti and not the Constitution. I want to ask the ruling party whether you support the words of your leader Savarkar, because when you speak about protecting the Constitution in the Parliament, you are ridiculing Savarkar, you are abusing Savarkar. Yes, you are defaming Savarkar.
