Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has written a letter to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. In this letter, Rahul Gandhi has demanded action in the case of murder of a youth named Arjun Pasi, who ran a barber shop in Raebareli recently. Rahul Gandhi has said that the main accused in this incident, Vishal Singh, is not being arrested due to political protection.
What is the whole matter?
On 11th August, a Dalit youth Arjun Pasi was shot dead in Rahul Gandhi’s parliamentary constituency Raebareli. Arjun used to run a hair cutting shop. The family of the deceased alleges that Arjun had asked for money from the bullies for cutting hair. Angered by this, Arjun was murdered. The police had arrested six accused in this case but one accused Vishal Singh had absconded. The family of the deceased alleges that Vishal is not being caught due to political protection. Rahul Gandhi also visited the house of the victim’s family to express condolences.
What did Rahul Gandhi write?
Rahul Gandhi has said in the letter written to CM Yogi that I had gone to the house of the victim’s family to express condolences. There the family members told that out of the seven named accused related to the incident, six have been arrested, but the main accused Vishal has not been arrested yet. Rahul Gandhi said that it was also brought to his notice by the family members and other villagers that Vishal Singh enjoys political protection, due to which he is not being arrested.
Rahul made this request to CM Yogi
Rahul Gandhi has said in the letter that even after two weeks of the incident, the victim’s family and the local Dalit community are forced to live in an atmosphere of fear and insecurity due to the main accused not being arrested yet. Also, an extremely poor, exploited, Dalit family is being deprived of justice. Rahul Gandhi has requested CM Yogi Adityanath to arrest the main accused as soon as possible so that the victim’s family can get justice. Rahul has said that please inform me about the action taken in this regard.
