Indian Railways will run 250 special trains.
To reduce crowding in trains during Diwali and Chhath, Western Railways has decided to run 200 special trains. Indian Railways said that more than 120 trains will run on Tuesday, October 29. Of these, around 40 trains will be managed by the Mumbai division, of which 22 trains will travel exclusively to popular destinations in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and Odisha.
Vineet Abhishek, Chief Public Relations Officer, Western Railway, said, “This is part of our commitment to meet the increasing demand of passengers during these busy times.” “We are closely monitoring these additional services at both divisional and headquarters levels,” he said.

Eastern Railway will run 50 extra trains
Eastern Railway on Monday announced that it is running 50 special trains and providing 400 additional services during Diwali and Chhath Puja. Eastern Railway Public Relations Officer Kaushik Mitra said that Eastern Railway has increased the number of special trains from 33 to 50 this year. “Eastern Railway is running more trains this year for the festival of Diwali and Chhath than last year. Last year, the number of special trains was 33, this year it has increased to 50,” Mitra said.
Announcement of security protocols at high traffic stations
Let us tell you that after the tragic stampede incident at Mumbai’s Bandra station, Indian Railways announced security protocols along with deployment of maximum staff at high traffic stations like Bandra Terminus, Surat, Udhna, Vadodara and Ahmedabad.
The sale of the platform has been temporarily discontinued till November 8, 2024, at major stations in the Mumbai division including Mumbai Central, Dadar, Bandra Terminus, Borivali, Vasai Road, Vapi, Valsad, Udhna and Surat. Its purpose is to control crowding and facilitate smooth movement within station areas.
