Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said in a press conference on Tuesday that the central government has taken an important decision to further strengthen the security of railway tracks. The minister said that Indian Railways will now install about 75 lakh AI-powered CCTV cameras in trains.
CCTV cameras in coaches and locomotive engines
The Railway Minister said that cameras will be installed not only in coaches but also in locomotive engines. With the help of these AI-powered cameras, loco pilots will get alerts and they will be able to apply emergency brakes easily.

Ashwini Vaishnav also said that Indian Railways is planning to install about 75 lakh AI-powered cameras in coaches and locomotives. A budget of about Rs 15,000 crore has been kept for this. With the help of these cameras, it will help in identifying suspicious objects on the tracks and alerting the drivers in time.
40,000 coaches, 14,000 locomotives and 6,000 EMUs will be equipped
According to the Railway Minister, Indian Railways is planning to equip 40,000 coaches, 14,000 locomotives and 6,000 EMUs with AI operated CCTV cameras. These measures are aimed at ensuring the safety of passengers traveling by train.
