Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Wednesday criticized the media for incorrectly using words about them during an informal conversation with journalists on the question of a possible alliance with Shiv Sena (UBT) before the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections and said that if he had to make a political statement, he would organize a press conference.
Thackeray wrote on Facebook, “What kind of new journalism is this? The informal conversation remains informal. And if something is published in it, then how can someone put words in someone’s mouth that have never been spoken? Is that sense of morality of journalism is lost now?”.
He accused some journalists of “reporting” at someone’s behest and expressed disappointment on the situation of journalism, saying, “Do you expect us to speak just because you want daily headlines or someone else? And if nothing is available someday, you create stories.”
Thackeray said that on the basis of a joint rally in Mumbai this month, he was asked about the possibility of an alliance with Shiv Sena (UBT) in Igatpuri. He said that the media said such things in his name that he had never said “.
The MNS chief said, “I was asked about the joint rally held on July 5. On this I said that it was not a political gathering – it was a celebration of the victory of the Marathi people. Then I was asked, ‘What about the alliance?’ To which I said, ‘Should I now discuss the affairs of alliance with you?’ Subsequently, some English and Marathi newspapers and select media institutions handed over words to me that I never said, such as “The decision on the alliance will be taken on the basis of the situation before the municipal elections.”
He urged journalists not to be involved in such activities and said that the chaos prevailing on social media should not be allowed to infiltrate journalism.
Thackeray said, “I have a direct association with journalism since 1984 and newspapers, weekly and magazines were born in our house. As a cartoonist, my own journey is spreading to poignant, folklore, voice, lok and face. That please do not join such tasks. “
Earlier, on July 13, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut had said in his face article that the Thackeray brothers who joined hands on the Marathi issue should also come together politically to fight “Professional Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)”.
He said that the alliance between Uddhav and Raj Thackeray was “necessary” to give a new direction to Maharashtra. The article states, “The way Marathi unity has been created in Maharashtra, the current rulers of Delhi and Maharashtra have been shaken by it. They will try their best to stop this alliance.”
