A car belonging to the convoy of former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and National Conference (NC) leader Farooq Abdullah collided with a Nilgai on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Dausa district on Friday. A police officer gave this information.
He said that Delhi Police constable Pappuram Meena, deployed for the security of Abdullah, was injured in the accident. The official said that the accident occurred at around 2.45 pm on Friday near the exit from the expressway in Bhandarej.
Abdullah was going to Ajmer although he was traveling in another vehicle. Four policemen, including Meena, were traveling in the accident vehicle. Havildar Arvind Kumar of Sadar police station said, “The injured policeman was taken to the district hospital, where he was given first aid and discharged.”
He said that as soon as the accident occurred, other vehicles including the one carrying Abdullah stopped, however, the security team members boarded another vehicle in the convoy and left for Ajmer. In Ajmer, Abdullah visited the Dargah of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti.
He also prayed for the safety of Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, who was attacked with a knife at his home in Mumbai. Abdullah told reporters in Ajmer, “I prayed for peace, brotherhood and progress in the country and for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The people of Jammu and Kashmir should come out of the difficult phase which they have been going through for the last 10 years.
He said, “I also prayed for Saif Ali Khan, who was attacked. Thankfully, his life was saved and I pray that he recovers soon and such things do not happen in our country.”
