New Delhi. We have all read in the history book about the marriage of Mughal emperor Akbar’s Hindu princess Jodh Bai. It has been made from the film to TV serials, but now Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde has made a shocking claim about the marriage of Akbar and Jodha. According to him, King Bharmal of Amer got Akbar married not to the princess but to a maid. The Governor said that the history of the knights of our country was changed by the British, many false facts were added to it and most of us accept it as true.
Governor Haribhau Bagde said this at a program organized in Udaipur on the eve of Maharana Pratap’s birth anniversary. He said that whatever is written about Jodha and Akbar’s marriage and what is shown in the film is a lie. Haribhau, citing Akbarnama, said that there is no mention of Jodhabai in it. Akbarnama is considered the official record of Akbar’s reign. According to this, Akbar married Raja Bharmal’s daughter in the year 1569 under a strategic alliance. Historians have named his name Haraka Bai or Maryam-Uz-Jamani.
The Governor also termed the claim of the great Rajput ruler Maharana Pratap to write a letter to the Mughal ruler Akbar for the treaty. He said that Maharana Pratap never compromised on Aan, Ban and Shaan. The Governor said that in our history, more about Akbar and less about Maharana Pratap are taught. Although the conditions are now improving, under the new education policy, efforts are being made to introduce the younger generation to the great culture and glorious history of their country.
