Prime Minister Narendra Modi went to Maharashtra and apologized by bowing his head at the feet of Shivaji Maharaj. Standing on the soil of Maharashtra, Modi said plainly that he apologizes not only to Chhatrapati Shivaji but also to all those who were hurt by the breaking of Shivaji’s statue. Modi said that Chhatrapati Shivaji is not only a great king, skilled warrior and protector of the motherland for him, but he is also his idol. Since the breaking of Shivaji’s statue is an emotional issue in Maharashtra, the leaders of the opposition Mahavikas Aghadi are adding fuel to the fire. On Sunday, September 1, Sharad Pawar, Uddhav Thackeray and Nana Patole were preparing to protest near Shivaji Maharaj’s statue in Mumbai, but before that Modi foiled the opposition’s strategy by apologizing.

Modi was addressing a rally in Palghar on Friday, he said that when he was made the prime ministerial candidate in 2013, he first went to Raigad and took a vow to serve the country by sitting in front of Shivaji’s statue in his fort. Modi said that Shivaji is his idol, so he is very saddened by the way Chhatrapati’s statue was vandalized in Sindhudurg and that is why he bows his head in front of everyone and apologizes by placing his head at the feet of Shivaji Maharaj.

The Prime Minister said that he has no hesitation in apologizing for the Shivaji statue incident but Veer Savarkar, a son of this Maharashtra, was insulted and abused every day, but far from apologizing, those who abused Veer Savarkar are ready to fight in court. Modi said that this is the difference in values. A case is going on against Rahul Gandhi in Pune court for insulting Veer Savarkar. Rahul Gandhi is facing the case instead of ending the matter by apologizing for his statement. Veer Savarkar was also Bala Saheb Thackeray’s idol but Uddhav Thackeray remained silent on the insult of Savarkar, that is why Modi raised this issue today. Rahul Gandhi may not agree, but the leaders of Maharashtra Congress also know that the issue of insulting Veer Savarkar is related to the sentiments of the people of Maharashtra, it may cause loss in the elections.

It is a big thing that the Prime Minister has publicly apologized for Shivaji’s statue. Everyone should respect it. Action is also being taken in this case. An FIR has already been filed against the company that got the contract to install Chhatrapati Shivaji’s statue. On Friday, structural consultant Chetan Patil was arrested in this case. Now the court will punish the culprits on the basis of evidence, but this issue has become more political than legal.

Since elections are around the corner in Maharashtra, Chhatrapati Shivaji is a very emotional issue for the people of Maharashtra, so the leaders of the Maha Vikas Aghadi are trying to corner the BJP on this issue. However, the reality is that this statue was unveiled on the occasion of Indian Navy Day, the statue was built under the supervision of the Navy, so there was no scope for politics in it, but since the statue was unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uddhav Thackeray, Sharad Pawar and Nana Patole got the opportunity. But the manner in which Modi has apologized with all humility, not only to Chhatrapati Shivaji, but also to the people of Maharashtra, the leaders of the Maha Vikas Aghadi must have been shocked. However, they will not leave this issue, they will protest, demand the resignation of CM Eknath Shinde, Devendra Fadnavis because the leaders of the Maha Vikas Aghadi want that the issue of insult to Chhatrapati Shivaji somehow remains hot till the elections.
