Now Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia will be seen in the political arena. Vinesh and Bajrang joined Congress, Vinesh will contest from Jind’s Julana seat on Congress ticket. Bajrang Punia was appointed the working president of All India Kisan Congress. When Olympian wrestler Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia met Rahul Gandhi, it was clear at that time that both would join Congress. Now both will try their luck in the arena of politics. Before joining Congress, Vinesh Phogat resigned from the railway job. After taking membership of Congress, Vinesh Phogat said that when she was fighting for the honor of daughters, Congress supported her strongly and at that time BJP had run a campaign to defame her. But to prove herself right, she played the National Championship, gave trials for the Olympics, reached the finals, but it seems that God had something different in mind for her. Vinesh said that the fight for the dignity of daughters will continue and the strength she needs to take this fight forward will be provided to her by Congress.
But Sakshi Malik, who fought strongly against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, is unhappy with Vinesh and Bajrang joining the Congress. Sakshi Malik said with great disappointment that Vinesh and Bajrang Punia have taken the decision in their personal capacity, they did not consult her. Sakshi said that the more politics was kept away from the fight for the respect of daughters in the wrestling association, the better it would have been. Only Vinesh and Bajrang know why they chose the path of politics, but she will continue to fight for reforms in the Wrestling Federation. Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh took a dig at Vinesh and Bajrang in Gonda. He said, what he was saying from the beginning has proved true today, the whole country knows who was behind the movement at Jantar Mantar. Haryana BJP leader Anil Vij said that he will always respect Vinesh as a champion daughter, but Vinesh was the daughter of the country till now, now she wants to become the daughter of Congress, so what objection can BJP have, today one thing has become clear that Congress was behind the movement of wrestlers. In response, Bajrang Punia said that when he was protesting at Jantar Mantar, he had written a letter to the women MPs of BJP and sought their support, but then the BJP defamed him instead of supporting him, so he joined Congress so that he could continue the fight for justice.
Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has no right to speak about Vinesh and Bajrang. It was because of his actions that wrestlers had to come out on the streets. It was because of his threats that wrestler daughters had to struggle. Even after Brij Bhushan’s removal, the attitude of the Wrestling Federation did not change, the wrestlers also filed a case in the court but there too Brij Bhushan trapped them in legal complications, how long would they fight? They had to enter the political arena. Coming to the field of politics and contesting elections is less of their choice and more of a compulsion because people like Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh left no option for them. Bajrang and Vinesh brought glory to the country in the wrestling field, won medals for the country, so their decision should be respected. The courage with which Vinesh fought for the honor of daughters, then rising from the streets to the finals of the Olympics in Paris, made her a youth icon. If Vinesh wants to fulfill her political ambition by contesting elections, then it is her right. At least those whose Lok Sabha ticket was denied by the party should remain silent on this.
