New Delhi. During the discussion on the Constitution in the Lok Sabha today, Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh targeted Congress and Rahul Gandhi. He said that a particular party hijacked the process of constitution making. Our Constitution is not the gift of any one party but of the nation. Without naming Rahul Gandhi, Rajnath said that some Congress leaders carry a copy of the Constitution in their pockets. This has been taught to them since childhood. Whereas BJP has always respected the Constitution. The Defense Minister said, the thoughts of great men like Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya, Lala Lajpat Rai, Bhagat Singh and Veer Savarkar have strengthened and enriched the spirit of our Constitution.
Initiating the discussion in Parliament on the 75th year of the implementation of the Constitution in the country, Rajnath Singh said, 75 years ago, the Constituent Assembly had completed the process of making the Constitution for newly independent India. After almost three years of rigorous debate and deliberations, we got our Constitution. The Constitution made by the Constituent Assembly is not just an official document, it is an expression of the will of the people.
The Union Defense Minister said, I pay my heartfelt tribute to all the martyred security personnel who sacrificed their lives in protecting this temple of democracy, Parliament. First of all I want to thank you, Mr. Chairman. I had the opportunity to participate in this discussion on the completion of 75 years of the Indian Parliament and Constitution. We are fortunate that 75 years ago the Constituent Assembly completed the important task of drafting the Constitution for newly independent India.
