New Delhi: The Election Commission on Monday issued notification for 6 vacant seats of Rajya Sabha. By-elections for the Upper House will be held on December 20 and the results will also be declared by evening or night on the same day. This election will be held for Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal and Haryana. Out of six seats, five seats are expected to go to NDA’s account.
Enrollment will start from 3rd December
According to the Election Commission, the nomination process for Rajya Sabha will start from December 3. Nominations can be made till December 10. Nominations will be scrutinized on December 11. Nominations can be withdrawn till December 13. Elections will be held on December 20 from 9 am to 4 pm. Counting of votes will start from 5 pm.
Elections will be held on three seats in Andhra Pradesh
Maximum seats are vacant in Andhra Pradesh. Rajya Sabha elections will be held on three seats here. Three MPs from Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSRCP, Venkatraman Rao Mopidevi, Beedha Mastan Rao Yadav and Rayaga Krishnaiah, had resigned from the Rajya Sabha, leading to elections for new members. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party (TDP) can easily win all these three seats.
Election will be held on one seat in Odisha
Elections will be held for one Rajya Sabha seat in Odisha. Naveen Patnaik-led BJD MP Sujit Kumar had resigned from the Rajya Sabha. BJP is likely to get this seat in the state. Because BJP has formed the government here for the first time with full majority.
TMC will get one seat in Bengal
Jawahar Sarkar of the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal had resigned from the post of Rajya Sabha member. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s TMC can win this seat comfortably.
Election will be held on one seat in Haryana
Krishna Lal Panwar of the ruling BJP in Haryana recently resigned from the Rajya Sabha seat. BJP can easily win this seat. Krishna Lal Panwar had recently contested the Haryana Assembly elections from Israna constituency and also won. He is now a cabinet minister in the Nayab Singh Saini cabinet.
