New Delhi. The program has been banned on the Ramnavami festival inside the campus at Jadavpur University in West Bengal. The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) had sought permission to celebrate the Ram Navami festival but the university administration did not allow it. On the other hand, ABVP students are adamant on accepting Ram Navami festival while Left organizations like Students Federation of India (SFI) have opposed it. The situation has become tense due to student organizations coming face to face. Last year, there was a clash between ABVP and SFI over Ramlala’s Pran Pratishtha ceremony.
The university administration says that the program has not been allowed to organize the program to ensure that there is no fervor between the student groups on the campus. The university also says that Ramnavami festival was never celebrated in the campus before. On the other hand, ABVP says that when the university campus can be Iftar, then why can’t Ram Navami be? Students say that the program will be organized on Ramnavami. Santanu Singh, chairman of the trustee board of ABVP’s West Bengal unit, has announced a major protest against leftist organizations. This announcement has been made when the SFI has announced that it will not allow the ABVP to organize a program on Ramnavami at the university campus.
Let us tell you that Jadhavpur University is considered a stronghold of leftist politics. Last year, the university administration accepted the demand of ABVP and allowed them to organize the program on Ram Navami, although the university administration canceled permission due to the opposition of SFI. The model code of conduct was cited by the university administration behind this.
