On Saturday, 36 Amarnath Yatra pilgrims suffered minor injuries after losing control of the last vehicle of Pahalgam convoy and colliding with four stranded vehicles at the Chandrakot Langar site in Ramban district.
The district administration, which was already present at the scene, immediately rushed all the injured passengers to the district hospital Ramban.
In a post on social media platform X, Deputy Commissioner (DEO) Ramban wrote, “The last vehicle of Pahalgam convoy lost control and hit the vehicles trapped at the Chandrakot anchor site, causing 4 vehicles damaged and 36 yatras suffered minor injuries. The district administration immediately transferred DH Ramban.
Ramban District Commissioner Mohammad Alayas Khan, Deputy Inspector General of Inspector (DIG) DKR Sridhar Patil, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban Kulbir Singh and Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Varunjit Singh Charak reached the hospital, monitored treatment and instructed the CMO to ensure the best care. The passengers were later transferred to other vehicles for their further travel.
The post further states, “DC Ramban Mohammad Alyas Khan, DIG DKR Sridhar Patil, SSP Ramban Kulbir Singh and ADC Varunjit Singh Charak reached the hospital, monitored treatment and directed the CMO to ensure the best possible care. Later the passengers were transferred to other vehicles for their further travel.”
Medical Superintendent in charge of DH Ramban, Mohammad Rafi said that no patient has been referred to any other hospital. He further informed that till now 10 patients have been discharged and the remaining will be discharged in the next one hour.
Rafi told ANI, “One bus of pilgrims going on Amarnath Yatra collided with another bus. We have a total of 36 injured patients. All the patients have been treated here, we have not referred anyone to any other hospital. 10 patients have been discharged and almost all patients will be discharged in the next 1 hour …”.
Earlier today, for the facility of easy movement of vehicles for the pilgrims of the Amarnath Yatra, the 500 -meter -long four -lane vialect (flyover) and a two -lane 700 meter long canopy tunger in Mehd were reopened in Dhalwas near Cafeteria Mor on NH 44 of Ramban.
