The RRTS (Regional Rapid Transit System) to be built in Anand Vihar, Delhi is now almost ready and is being finalized. This project is being built under the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor, which has a total length of 42 kilometers. Currently, RRTS is operational from Meerut South to Sahibabad, and now the 6.5 km long route from Sahibabad to Anand Vihar will be ready for trial run from November.
Anand Vihar: A major transit hub
Anand Vihar is a major transit hub of Delhi, where lakhs of people travel by train and bus every day. The station will be connected to RRTS, Delhi Metro, railway station, and inter-state bus station, providing a better integrated transport experience to the passengers.
Construction progress: How far has the work progressed?
The Delhi section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor is 9 km long, of which 4 km is elevated and 5 km is underground. The work of the elevated bridge between Anand Vihar and Sahibabad has been completed and now the track laying work is going on. Trial run: The trial run of the Namo Bharat train will start on this route from November 2024.
Features of Anand Vihar RRTS Station
Anand Vihar RRTS station has been specially designed to provide every kind of convenience to the passengers. This station will be completely underground and many unique facilities have been provided for it:
Pick-up/Drop-off point for vehicles: A 10-metre wide bridge will serve as a vehicle entry point, allowing taxis and private vehicles to drop passengers directly at the station gate. A 13-metre wide bridge will provide an exit point for these vehicles to return to the main road. A 5-metre wide mid-bridge will be for pedestrians, allowing them to walk easily inside the station premises.

Work on Sarai Kale Khan, New Ashok Nagar and Anand Vihar RRTS stations is nearing completion. Yard work at Jangpura station will be completed later.
