New Delhi. India’s veteran industrialist Ratan Tata, who always worked for the public interest while keeping the country supreme, today merged with the Panchatatva. Ratan Tata was cremated with state honors at the crematorium in Worli, Mumbai, where thousands of people present bid farewell to ‘this precious Ratan of India’ with tearful eyes. After becoming a Parsi, the last rites were performed as per Hindu customs.

Ratan Tata was a Parsi but his funeral was according to Hindu customs. The reason behind that is that the dead bodies of Parsi people are kept in the Tower of Silence. The Tower of Silence is a place where Parsi people hand over the mortal remains of their loved ones to nature after their death, meaning their body is left for vultures. But now vultures have also become extinct in the cities, hence gradually changes are being brought in this process also. This is the reason why Ratan Tata’s last rites were performed in this manner.
