New Delhi. Today, effigies of Ravana are being burnt in different parts of the country on the festival of Vijayadashami, which is celebrated to symbolize the victory of good over evil. In the presence of President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the effigies of Ravana, Meghnad and Kumbhakarna were burnt in Madhavdas Park of Red Fort, Delhi. Before this, after reaching Ram Leela Ground, Prime Minister Modi and President Murmu applied tilak of Lord Ram, Laxman and Hanuman ji and performed their aarti. After reaching the stage, PM Modi symbolically shot the bow and arrow towards the effigy of Ravana. After this the effigies of Ravana, Meghnad and Kumbhakarna were burnt.

On the other hand, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary attended the Dussehra celebrations at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. During this, he also symbolically killed Ravana with a bow and arrow and the effigy was burnt.

The festival of Dussehra was celebrated with great pomp in Jammu and Kashmir also. Effigies of Ravana, Meghnad and Kumbhakarna were burnt at SK Stadium in Srinagar. In Jammu and Kashmir itself, the festival of Vijayadashami was celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm in Mendhar sub-division of Poonch district, located near the India-Pakistan Line of Control (LOC). The 10-day Ramlila concluded today, after which a grand procession was taken out from the Hanuman temple, in which a large number of devotees participated.

Dussehra fair was also organized in Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand. Where thousands of people witnessed the burning of Ravana. In Chandigarh too, the effigy of Ravana was burnt as a symbol of evil. Even in Panchkula, Haryana, the effigy of Ravana was burnt on the occasion of Vijayadashami. During this period, Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini was also present there. Effigies of Ravana, Meghnath and Kumbhakarna were also burnt in Karnal, Haryana.
