New Delhi. The Karnataka government submitted the investigation report to the High Court on June 4 outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. In this report, the government has blamed the IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for the stampede. The Karnataka government has said that RCB announced the Victory Parade through social media without the permission of the police and invited people. This report also mentions RCB star player Virat Kohli.
According to the report, a video clip of the team’s prominent player, Virat Kohli, was shared from the official social media handle of RCB, in which he said that RCB wants to celebrate IPL victory on 4 June 2025 with people and fans of Bengaluru in Bengaluru on 4 June 2025. After this, another post was posted by RCB at 3:14 pm on June 4, which told that the victory parade will be taken out from the assembly to Chinnaswamy Stadium between 5 and 6 pm. After this, lakhs of RCB supporters suddenly gathered outside the stadium, causing a stampede there.
Although the Karnataka government had asked the High Court to keep this report confidential, the High Court said that there is no legal basis. Recall that 11 people were killed while more than 50 were injured in this stampede incident. Nikhil Sosh, the marketing head of the RCB team, was arrested in this case, some other people were also acted upon. However, he was later granted bail. The stampede incident was strongly condemned by many others, including some former players. Even the BCCI had to face criticism in this case.
