The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for many parts of Delhi, warning of thunderstorms with moderate rain and strong winds. The alert has been issued for the next few hours, which is likely to cause waterlogging and traffic delays in many parts of the national capital.

Heavy rain: Due to rain in many areas of Delhi, the roads have been waterlogged, leading to traffic jams. Heavy rain has been continuing in Delhi since Thursday night, due to which the temperature of the city has also dropped. Drop in temperature: After the rain, the minimum temperature reached 21.4 degrees Celsius, which is four degrees below normal. Safdarjung recorded 29.6 mm of rain. Air traffic affected: Arrival and departure of flights at Indira Gandhi International Airport is getting delayed. However, no flight cancellation has been reported so far. Airlines have advised passengers to be cautious.

Traffic jam due to waterlogging: Delhi Traffic Police has also advised commuters to avoid waterlogged areas and use alternate routes. Heavy traffic jams were seen on NH-48, Lala Lajpat Rai Marg, Outer Ring Road and Rohtak Road. Light to moderate rain forecast in Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted cloudy weather with light to moderate rain throughout the day. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 30 degrees Celsius.
Alert in Uttarakhand and other states:
Heavy rain alert in Uttarakhand: The IMD has issued a heavy rain warning in several districts of Uttarakhand, increasing the risk of floods. The districts at risk include Almora, Bageshwar, Chamoli, Nainital and Tehri Garhwal. Risk of flash floods in Himachal Pradesh: Flash floods have been predicted in Shimla and Sirmaur districts. Alert in eastern states too: Flood risk has also been reported in West Bengal, Mizoram and Tripura, where heavy rains are likely.
