Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has got relief in the electoral bond recovery case. Karnataka High Court has stayed the investigation in the case against him. The case filed against him in the electoral bond recovery case has been stayed till October 22. Former Karnataka BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel had challenged the lower court’s decision in the High Court. Admitting the petition for hearing, the Karnataka High Court has stayed further investigation in the FIR registered against former Karnataka state BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel till October 22.

Nalin Kumar Kateel is a co-accused in the electoral bond recovery case. Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has been made the main accused in this case. He is accused of extorting money from some companies in the guise of electoral bonds.

Adarsh R Iyer had complained

Janadhikar Sangharsh Parishad (JSP) co-chairman Adarsh R Iyer had filed a complaint naming Nirmala Sitharaman and Nalin Kumar Kateel as accused, alleging that the accused extorted money under the guise of electoral bonds and collected Rs 8,000 crore. Took advantage of more. The complaint said Sitharaman extorted thousands of crores of rupees for the benefit of others at the state and national levels with the covert aid and support of ED officials. According to Adarsh R Iyer, the work of extortion under the guise of electoral bonds was being carried out with the connivance of BJP officials at various levels.

Electoral bond scheme has been canceled

The Supreme Court had in February struck down the electoral bond scheme, saying it violates the right to information and freedom of speech and expression under the Constitution. Terming the electoral bond scheme as unconstitutional and clearly arbitrary, the Supreme Court had on February 15 directed SBI to submit complete details of the bonds purchased since April 12, 2019, to the Election Commission. The court had also directed the Commission to publish the relevant details on its website by March 13.
