Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday welcomed the Supreme Court verdict in which the Enforcement Directorate (ED) petition was rejected by the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) demanding an inquiry against his wife BM Parvati regarding the alleged irregularities regarding the allocation of illegal land, and called the petition “strong” on the Central Government’s face.
The Chief Minister of Karnataka said in a post on social media, “The Supreme Court’s historic order, which dismissed the ED’s appeal to investigate my wife Mrs. Parvati in the allocation of MUDA site, is a strong slap of justice on the face of the central government.”
Siddaramaiah said, “I politely welcome the order of Honorable Chief Justice of Supreme Court BR Gavai and Justice K. Vinodchandra. In my long political life, I have always bowed my head towards the Constitution and the law of the country. This belief has been retained and protected by the Supreme Court’s order.”
Accusing the BJP and its allies of misusing central investigative agencies like ED, CBI, the Chief Minister of Karnataka said that this fabricated case has “huge harassment and mental troubles”.
His social media post wrote, “The Bharatiya Janata Party and its allies, unable to compete politically, are misusing constitutional investigative agencies like CBI and ED to make a false case against my wife, causing them to face huge harassment. I can never forget the mental trouble that has caused me and my family.”
Reiterating his allegations, the Chief Minister said that the decision console all the victims who were suffering from the misuse of the BJP.
Siddaramaiah urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to focus on this order and stop political misuse of central institutions. He also demanded publicly apologizing from the state BJP and the Janata Dal (S) leaders who accused him and his family in the MUDA case.
Siddaramaiah said, “For the last 10-11 years, misuse of income tax, CBI and ED for political vengeance by the Central Government and BJP has caused many people to suffer, and this decision consoles all such victims and instills confidence in the judicial system.”
He said, “After this shocking order of the Supreme Court, I hope that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah will wake up, will stop misuse of constitutional institutions like IT, CBI and ED, will give them proper autonomy and atonement for their sins.
