Ranchi: This year, during the parade on the duty path in the capital Delhi on Republic Day, Jharkhand will pay tribute to late industrialist Ratan Tata in its tableau. The state will pay tribute to late industrialist Ratan Tata, one of the founders of the country’s first steel city Jamshedpur. Jharkhand will be among the 15 states and union territories that will display their tableaux at the Republic Day celebrations in the national capital on January 26.

According to a release issued by the Jharkhand government, the state has made a lot of preparations to present its rich heritage, cultural diversity and developmental progress on the national stage. “This year, Jharkhand’s tableau will showcase the state’s tribute to late industrialist Ratan Tata, who played a vital role in the state’s industrial development, as well as the state’s vibrant culture, traditional dance and empowerment of women through education,” the statement said. The increasing empowerment of women will also be highlighted. The creativity and relevance of the tableau design has been appreciated during the selection process.”
Tussar silk display in previous tableau
In previous years, Jharkhand’s tableau had focused on other aspects of the state’s identity. Last year’s tableau showcased the state’s famous Tussar Silk, while the 2023 tableau featured the famous Baba Baidyanath temple of Deoghar. The central government had invited proposals from all states and union territories to select the final 15 participants for the Republic Day parade, the statement said. During this process the design of Jharkhand’s tableau received widespread appreciation. According to the statement, the selected states have to complete their tableaux by January 19, 2025, and the full rehearsal is scheduled for January 23.
Ratan Tata’s important contribution in the development of Jharkhand
Late Ratan Tata’s contribution is considered important in the development of Jharkhand, which was a backward region and became a state in 2000. This city of Jharkhand was named Jamshedpur after the founder of Tata Group, Jamshedji Nusserwanji Tata. It was the vision of late Ratan Tata that accelerated the development of Jamshedpur and put it on the global map. He first visited Jamshedpur in 1963 to see how Tata Steel worked. He then visited the city in 1965 to hone his training skills. Ratan Tata became the chairman of Tata Steel in 1993. He died on October 9 last year. (Language)
