Some state -of -the -art defense systems, including BrahMos, Pinaka and Akash, will be part of the 76th Republic Day celebrations on the duty path. India will demonstrate its military power and vibrant cultural heritage on the duty path on 26 January and the flypast will include 40 Indian Air Force aircraft and three Dornier aircraft of Indian Coast Guard.
The General Officer Commanding of Delhi region will be the Lt Gen Bhavnish Kumar Parade Commander, while the ‘Parade Second-in-Command’ will be the Chief of Staff (COS) of the Delhi region, Major General Sumit Mehta.
In a conversation with media persons here soon after the parade’s ‘full dress rehearsal’ was completed, Major General Mehta said that many state-of-the-art platforms, various types of lively tableaux as well as India’s military power in this grand ceremony with the rich heritage of the country Will be performed.
T-90 ‘Bhishma’ tank, BrahMos and Pinaka missile system, sky weapon system, short span bridging system 10 meter, Nag missile system, multi-barrel rocket launcher system ‘Agniban’ and ‘Bajrang’ (light specialist vehicle) performance Will be done.
Asked what factors were taken into consideration while giving names to platforms like ‘Agniban’ and ‘Bajrang’, the COS of Delhi region said, “Among the special vehicles made under the self -reliant India, they were made. The capabilities were reflected. We have named them, they were not named earlier. When they were being named, our cultural heritage was also taken into consideration through names. ”
Major General Mehta said that the war monitoring system ‘Sanjay’ and the ‘Holocaust’ arms system of Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) will appear in the parade for the first time.
Officials said the Indian Army would represent a cavalry, eight mechanized troops and six marching pieces.
The mounted contingent will be represented by 61 cavalry. The marching column will include Brigade of the Guards, Jat Regiment, Garhwal Rifles Regiment, J&K Light Infantry (JAKLI) Regiment and Core of Engineers.
This year, the main topic of the Republic Day celebrations is the 75th anniversary of the constitution to come into force and the theme of tableau is ‘Golden India: Heritage and Development’.
Sixteen tableaux of various states and union territories and 15 tableaux of central government ministries, departments and organizations will be part of the parade.
The Ministry of Defense said on Thursday that apart from this, there will be a tableau of DRDO, which will be the theme ‘Multi-level protection against defense armor-multi-regional threats’.
The ministry said that apart from this, DRDO’s 2024 major achievements will also be displayed in the tableau posters.
Prior to the parade, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay floral tributes at the National Summer Memorial and pay tribute to the martyrs.
The COS of the Delhi region told reporters that the parade would start at 10:30 am and will continue for 90 minutes, which would show India’s heritage and development journey.
He informed that C-130J Super Hercules, C-295, C-17 Globmaster, P-8i, MiG-29, SU-30 and other aircraft will also participate in the ceremony.
