Former Prime Minister of India and leader of Janata Dal (Secular) HD Deve Gowda has given a big statement in the Parliament. During the winter session of Parliament, former PM Deve Gowda said that Parliament should consider whether reservation should be given on the basis of caste or it should be changed to economic basis. After this demand of former PM Deve Gowda, the discussion on the issue of reservation has started once again.
What did HD Deve Gowda say?
Former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) leader HD Deve Gowda was participating in the discussion on ’75 years of glorious journey of the Constitution of India’ in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday. During this discussion HD Deve Gowda expressed his opinion on the reservation system. The former PM said, “Whatever happened in the past, the House itself will have to consider whether we should give reservation only on the basis of poverty in this country.”
Deve Gowda made a big demand
Former PM Deve Gowda said in Parliament- “People are also suffering from the reservation that we have given in the past and it has not uplifted those who are still struggling for two square meals a day.” Deve Gowda said the House should consider whether reservation should be continued on the same lines as before or priority should be given only to those who are suffering the most from poverty and have poor standards of living.

Former PM Deve Gowda said in the Rajya Sabha – “If the House and the leaders consider it, then the Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) can consider it before taking any decision on reservation.” Deve Gowda said that the Constitution prepared by Babasaheb Ambedkar has stood the test of time.
